Bill Simmons has mentioned this project many times, and I won't be in the country for the first two (don't worry, I'm recording them), but I am very excited about ESPN's
30 for 30 documentaries and I hope you are able to discuss them, or at least watch them, in my absence.
I am honestly hoping a few of them make me cry.
ReplyDeleteI am honestly hoping none of them make me cry. I hate emotional documentary type movies because I feel like they're always contrived (I know I'm being cynical).
ReplyDeleteI am however extremely interested in some of these subjects and I love that basically all of the stories are from angles that aren't super well-known. I feel like I might learn a lot from these films.
How come clicking on the schedule for thing doesn't show the "opening" date for each documentary?
ReplyDeleteAm I being too lazy by waiting for the full DVD set?
Well, I can tell you all with no hint of shame that I've only seen the 10-second preview for "King's Ransom" (airing tonight at 5 PM Pacific, Scotty) - and it's almost made me cry. I'm not an avowed hockey fanatic, but I can figure the story of Gretzky's departure from Edmonton (including the Great One himself tearing up at the press conference) is going to be gut-wrenching. Enjoy!
