Chip Kelly is a class act
SI.com's Hot Clicks directed me to this blog with a story of an Oregon fan who traveled to watch the Boise State game, and was so disappointed he sent an invoice to Oregon's head coach, Chip Kelly, which he paid.

I also commend the fan, Tony Seminary, who made copies, then returned the check without cashing it.
ReplyDeleteI pray that fans don't start sending invoices to coaches expecting reimbursement, but I do encourage original ideas that give a coach an opportunity to show such class that Chip Kelly has displayed.
Yeah it's awesome as a one-off thing between the original two people here (the coach and the fan), but every subsequent invoice is going to be dumb.
ReplyDeleteBig props to the coach for doing this, that is a super impressive story of fan service. You can bet he just won over a lot more supporters in Oregon... unless the team has a losing season
I guess my counterpoint would be notorious jerk Bill Belichick and the fact that he's beloved even though nobody seems to like him all that much. If that makes sense. You win enough and you're gonna have a lot of fans.
ReplyDeleteThe guy sent an invoice after the Boise State game? He should have saved it for after the Cal Game - "Please refund me for every TD that Jahvid Best scored on my (and your) poor, overmatched Quackers..."
