Music Tuesdays - DNA by Empire of the Sun

This song comes from a new album by Empire of the Sun, who are from Australia.  Incidentally, this is one of the first recommendations we had on a Music Tuesday post, recommended by our friend C-Mac.

To me, this is the one song from the new album that really holds up to their two previous hits "We Are the People" and "Walking On A Dream".  Digging it.

Music Tuesdays - I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li

As hyped by our friend C-Mac, here is a new single by Swedish musician Lykke Li. Much like Bon Iver and Land of Talk, I am catching onto this artist at the time of their second album being released, but the songs off the first album are all pretty darn good too.

Music Tuesdays - Tightrope by Janelle Monae

I originally heard about Janelle Monae on Prima Mag's site, which in turn I heard of via our friend C-Mac. This sequence of discover was also responsible for the awesome Uffie song a few weeks back.

Turns out Monae performed this song on Dancing With the Stars last week, so she qualifies as well-known by now. I like the video cause it's really fun, matching the mood of the song well.

Music Tuesdays via Caitlin McCabe - ADD SUV by Uffie (ft. Pharrell)

I was going to go with something else today, but then I found this song via Caitlin McCabe who found it via Prima Mag.

This song absolutely cracks me up. I'm still not sure what's going on - all I know is when the black-and-white mime guys on bicycles appeared, the video won me over.

Music Tuesdays via Caitlin McCabe - Baby I'm Yours by Breakbot

From our friend C-Mac. This is the song I had wanted to link to last week, but C-Mac never put it up so I stole it. She tells me this band is French.

Music Tuesdays - In for the Kill and Bulletproof by La Roux

As suggested by Scott, the before:

And the after:

Just looking at the name of the artist and the hair in those still screens, I figured we were in for a Scottie Special. The songs, with their 80s revival sound, backed that up. I'm not going to lie - I've been hearing Bulletproof on the radio and it's totally stuck in my head.

For comparison - our amiga C-Mac has a similarly retro-sounding selection this week also. Do you prefer the La Roux selection or the Breakbot song? Do you dig the general style, or no?

Music Tuesdays - Loro by Pinback (via Grace Boyle)

Like all good things, Pinback is from San Diego. Grace's comment on this song is "imagine listening to it while driving alone on an empty highway at night." Well, when you put it that way... Yet another good find - thanks Grace!

This week our friend C-Mac also has some music up, and I am really digging the song she chose called Hey You by Pony Pony Run Run. A definite 80s/ early 90s feel.

Music Tuesdays - Get By by Talib Kweli

Joining us this week is Caitlin McCabe (aka C-Mac) with I Need a Dolla by Aloe Blacc. I like her song more than mine, actually.

Also, Aaron recommends a St. Patrick's day choice after the fact, because we did not dutifully honor said holiday last week. So here's Drunken Lullabies by Flogging Molly:
