Music Tuesdays - The Sound of Winter by Bush

In the spirit of musical compromise that Aaron gifted me last week, I would like to present this new Bush song. I was really surprised to hear Bush with a new single on the radio. Big fan.

  1. I was stunned when I heard this song... it could fit right into the track list on Sixteen Stone, which came out like 15 years ago.

  2. Wow, talk about a blast from the past. I'm not even sure I knew they were still together. Love the song, but there is no way it would have fit on Sixteen Stone. It sounds much cleaner than those tracks, which reflected the Late Grunge sound of the mid-90s. The verses are closer to SS, but the chorus reflects a lot of the changes in "rock" music since then. Less reverb, more movement with the voice.

  3. I actually completely agree with you that it sounds more post-Sixteen Stone, but I was trying to be sensational.

It actually WOULD fit right into their third album (Science of Things) right alongside "The Chemicals Between Us", which is one of their songs I like better. They did break up for a while there in the mid-aughts, so that's probably why we both didn't realize they might put out a new single.

  4. Good compromise. I find it interesting they decided to include all the studio shots with all the detailed technical equipment. Kind of says they have come a long way from being a garage band.

  5. Completely agree on it belonging right there next to "The Chemicals Between Us", which is one of my favorites as well. And let's all agree that "Swallowed" never happened, yes?

What's next?? A new video from Live??!

  6. Yeah, everyone has agreed to pretend that Swallowed never happened.
