Scott has duly shamed me for missing my Weekend Comedy post. As penance, I introduce you to communitychannel (real name: Natalie Tran), a video blogger on YouTube:

But we'll sure as hell talk about it anyways...
As an added bonus, here is her most recent video as well. Titled Money! OOH! or something... ask your mum
ReplyDeleteHeh heh - this chick cracks me up...she reminds me of our friend Nicole from More is Better due to the randomness and quick banter of her videos...
ReplyDeleteShe does remind me of a less raunchy Nicole, good call
ReplyDeleteI think the quick banter perfects her comedic timing. I like that she plays both parts of a conversation and dresses differently and does her hair differently, but doesn't really change her voice and it's still obvious she is playing both parts. She has absolutely perfected the "So she's like, um, excuse me and I'm like no way, you did not just say that and she's like what are you going to do about it and I'm like, bring it on bitch" valley girl conversation...but she does it in a British accent!!! (i'm pretty sure it's British...please make fun of me if I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteYup - she's from Sydney
ReplyDeleteYou're wrong
I love that Americans are so ignorant (ignant, as the kids say) that we don't know the difference between British and Australian accents.
ReplyDeleteIgnant American question - do the different regions in Australia have different accents? If you're from Sydney do you sound different from someone from Perth or from Darwin? (Full disclosure: I had to look up that last one, cause I don't know any cities other than Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane.)
For instance, New Zealand and Australian accents are differents, but unless I hear both at once I can't tell which is which.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and provide a 100% money-back guarantee on this statement:
ReplyDeleteDifferent regions in Aussie-land have different dialects of Aussie-English; I think it's inevitable that you'll find different dialects across any region as large as Aussie-land.
PS Natalie's video today was awesome - particularly the last minute or so...
Australian!!! That makes so much more sense! If Natalia Tran ever wanders over to FIWK, I want her to know that I am publicly apologizing for mistaking her accent.
ReplyDeleteAhahaha I loved her most recent video... a little long (and creepy) as they walked around, but the last minute was pure comedy cold. Also, if I do a video response to Natalie ever, I'm going to name it Mitch's Mole.
ReplyDeleteThere's always 3-4 things in each video that crack me up... did you see the scrolling comment she posted at the bottom? He wrote "why would anyone have a 'tent in the pants' for Natalie? That is like dividing by 0"
Now the phrase "that's like dividing by 0" is what I'm going to use for dumb situations. Does not compute.
Also when she goes "if only he knew the ocean was right over there" as the one guy stares off towards the street - that killed me
pure comedy cold = pure comedy gold
ReplyDeletealthough it gets me thinking about what, exactly, pure comedy cold would be...
Pure comedy cold: Things that are better (such as intentional and unintentional comedy) when a disease or illness is introduced. The first example that comes to mind was Phoebe's sexy singing voice (yes, I just referenced Friends, you know you watched it too) when she got a cold. She was then angry when she was cured.
