Paintings

This is by Amy Hoeck. Here are some of her other works of art. I ask for your opinions.

I like that it is a unique idea. I like her ability to capture photographic details, such as light reflecting off the ketchup or the cellophane wrappers (on one of her other paintings). I want to spread the word among our vast readership.

  1. Our vast readership of all four of us are very impressed, Aaron.

Maybe I'm dumb but I couldn't browse her other paintings? I went to the site and they were all kind of stacked and I couldn't figure out how to see the others in full?

Anyway I also find it cool... the hot dogs one kind of freaks me out but I'm very impressed by the way she mixes versimilitude with slight superrealism (almost cartoonishly so) in the paintings I can see. I particularly like the ice cream wallpaper work; the way they are all the same object with individual features fascinates me for some reason.

Does she have a purpose in creating this art? Does she intend to make a statement, and if so what is it?

  2. You can read about her goals in the About Me section of the site.

"Through my imagery I hope to make the viewer long for what is being represented; I want the viewer to go so far as to salivate when looking at my paintings, igniting all of the human senses."

  3. I think that is pretty cool. Although I don't think the stacked retro cars had that effect on me. The ice cream one DEFINITELY had that effect on me.

  4. I'm with Royce about the hot dog photo - rather turned off by it.

I really enjoyed the shadow effects on "sundae" - that absolutely looked like the real deal.

  5. Delectable. I like the circus type-fair food (if you will) that she chooses to paint. The car photo is retro, as well. I dig it.

  6. Would you still call it fair food if you took out the hot dogs? Or would it just be desserts?
