The topic of our favorite accoutrements came up recently over at C-Mac's blog, leading to a reflection of my all-time favorite shirt. I would like to share the subject of that shirt with you. He is Mr. Period from Penny Arcade. He appears occasionally to help gamers with their grammar and to clarify social misunderstandings, when not counseling confused numerologists. He is also the subject of this badass garment.

Unrelated to Mr Period, but Friday's comic was a dangerously truthful portrayal of the slightly-too-intimate moment that I think all tech geeks have experienced when first opening a long desired new product... don't act like you haven't
ReplyDeleteThere have been a few t-shirts that I felt perfectly described me. I wore this one often in high school. Now I regularly enjoy these Simpsons gems. One about intelligence and another about recycling. Which also refers to another interest of mine.
ReplyDeleteI knew the name of the school without having to look it up.
ReplyDeleteI hate opening new things; they invariably end up getting nicked and scratched as the days progress, no matter how many protective casings you use.
ReplyDeleteThat T-shirt is hilarious! I think with the right coffee cup and shirt, your day can be perfect. My favorite T-shirt says
ReplyDelete"Stereotypes make life so much easier"
Now, for bonus points, can anyone provide the context for Homer Simpson singing "I am so SMRT"?
ReplyDeleteI will provide the answer later in the day. So keep checking back.
Ahh - good shirt Cailtin; stereotypes do make life easier. And besides, if you use stereotypes to discriminate against everyone, you're and equal-opportunity discriminator; ergo, you're no longer acting in a discriminatory manner. :D
ReplyDeleteOops, it's been five days and I never provided the answer. A government inspection reveals that Homer Simpson does not have a college degree, which is required, so Mr. Burns gets Homer into college. Upon being accepted, Homer burns his high school diploma, and while the diploma and the surrounding wall are on fire behind him, begins to dance and sing, "I am so smart. I am so smart. S-M-R-T... I mean, S-M-A-R-T."
ReplyDeleteThat is a good piece of random Simpsons trivia. Have you browsed the Simpsons lists on 11 Points? That guy seems right up your alley with his Simpsons love.
ReplyDeleteI have not. Let me drop everything and venture over there...
ReplyDeleteIt's a good list, and I left a comment with my memories from a couple episodes (The WHO?!?! I LOVE bands!!)
ReplyDeleteIt also led to this discovery. The greatest Elf Yourself ever.
Ok, that guy knows more about the Simpsons than I do.
